Portland is a happy, safe place where you will make lots of friends and really fit in. When you start your journey with us, you will be joining 200 other learners who are all working towards exciting futures, just like you.
Although we’re really popular, we keep our class sizes small so you can focus on achieving your goals.

Learner Journeys
When you join us as a Further Education learner, we will assess your needs and place you onto one of the four learner journeys below to suit your needs and goals. You will stay on this learner journey throughout your time at Portland.
Learning how to express needs and wants in a variety of ways.
Exploring ways to develop functional knowledge and understanding of life skills
Developing skills and ideas to help you be more effective in education or employment
Demonstrating a range of skills, knowledge and understanding to support further education or employment
Study Programmes
As part of your Learner Journey, you will choose one of the 3 Study Programmes below. You will work towards a qualification in your chosen subject, we offer qualifications from Entry Level 1 to Level 3. Functional Skills Maths, English and ICT are included in your Study Programme.
Portland @ Nottingham
We are now offering a fabulous opportunity for learners to develop their employability skills at our brand new Nottingham Campus. Learners can study:

- Retail and Hospitality

Progression Tutors
You will be allocated a Progression Tutor who will be your key contact at Portland. They will work closely with you, your parents and other agencies to make sure you have a smooth transition into college.
They will help you to progress through your Learner Journey and achieve your goals. Your Progression Tutor will also support you to plan your next steps after your time at Portland.
Educational Support
While you’re learning at Portland various staff will support you to make sure you have everything you need to succeed. This may include Positive Behaviour Support, Learning Support Assistants and Information, Advice, Guidance and Transition (IAGT).
