Café Bar, CAPO Lounge in Mansfield’s town centre, have been supporting Portland Charity over the last few months by hosting various fundraising evenings and a chef visited the college as a guest speaker in a hospitality and catering lesson.
Back in April, CAPO Lounge and Portland first joined forces with a fundraising quiz, over 10 teams answered questions over 4 rounds battling for the top spot! The night proved to be a huge success leaving customers wanting another Portland College and CAPO Lounge collaboration.
Mel, chef at CAPO Lounge, visited Portland in May as a guest speaker to talk to our catering learners about what it’s like working as a chef in a busy high-street restaurant. Mel said: “I wanted to share my experiences and encourage other young people to kickstart their career in hospitality. I’m really passionate about cooking and I want to spread the word about what cooking means to me”.
Last week, CAPO Lounge and Portland once again came together for another fundraising evening, this time in the form of a Charity Bingo Night, all to raise money towards an electric minibus for the college. 40 people battled out for various prizes throughout the evening including; a voucher for Fat Nate’s burgers of 12 weeks’ free burgers and fries for the main lucky winner, cocktails, coffee and cake and even a big box of tea bags! Thanks to CAPO Lounge’s support, they have helped us raise £764 in funds and donations of products.
We look forward to working alongside them in the future and would like to thank for them for allowing us to have a presence in the community of Mansfield.
