We are extremely proud to share that John Sturman and Jackie Gill, Care Support Workers in the Independent Living area of Portland have been awarded the Residential Care Professional Award at The Proud to Care Nottinghamshire Awards this week. Organised by Nottinghamshire County Council, the Proud to Care awards celebrate and acknowledge individuals making a difference in the adult social care industry.
John and Jackie were nominated for their unwavering dedication to the department, and in particular to the main citizen that they care for, Joel. Through their commitment, Joel experiences wonderful moments and enriching opportunities. Over time they have built an incredible relationship with him, understanding his every sign and expression to create him a thriving environment; they even took him on his first holiday to Ingoldmells in their own time, an experience he cherished so much. Their passion for their roles is evident in the care and support they provide, creating lasting memories.
The Proud to Care Nottinghamshire Awards 2024 celebration event took place earlier this week at Eastwood Hall and it was a brilliant day, packed up with different care providers, all very well engaged and entertained by a fabulous atmosphere created by a joyous host who made everyone in the room sing, dance, laugh and cry. The Portland Freedom Care team was represented by 12 members of staff who attended the ceremony to celebrate and support not only John and Jackie but also our Independent Living Manager, Maggie Waring who was a finalist and runner up into the Long Service Recognition Award.
